How Alexa’s Egg Stand collects, uses and protects your information

About this policy

Alexa’s Egg Stand (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a small, family-run egg stand in Macclesfield in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia. This policy explains how we collect, use, store and share your personal information when you visit our website, place an order, or buy from our stand.

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Last updated: 14 October 2026

Information we collect

We only collect what we need to sell you eggs and look after your order:

  • Contact details – your name, email address and phone number when you place an order or get in touch.
  • Order details – what you ordered, quantities, pickup or delivery choice, and any notes you add.
  • Delivery address – only if you choose delivery, where we offer it.
  • Payment confirmation – whether your payment succeeded. Card details are handled by our payment provider, and we never see or store your full card number.
  • Messages – anything you send us through our website, email or social media.
  • Website usage – basic technical information such as your device, browser and the pages you visit, collected through cookies and similar technology.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • process, prepare and hand over your order;
  • send order confirmations, receipts and pickup or delivery updates;
  • answer your questions and handle any problems with an order;
  • keep our website, stock levels and service working well;
  • send you news and offers, but only if you have opted in, and you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email;
  • meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.

Payments

Card payments are processed securely by Stripe, and where offered by Square or PayPal. Your card details go directly to the payment provider over an encrypted connection and are handled under their own privacy policies. We receive confirmation of the payment, the amount and the last four digits of the card, but never your full card number.

If you pay with cash at the stand, we don’t collect any payment details.

Who we share your information with

We never sell or rent your personal information. We only share it with trusted providers who help us run our shop, and only as much as they need:

  • our website and online ordering platform, which hosts our shop and stores order records;
  • payment providers (Stripe, Square or PayPal) to take payments and prevent fraud;
  • email services that send order confirmations and, if you’ve opted in, our newsletter;
  • government agencies or others where the law requires it.

Some of these providers may store information outside Australia (for example in the United States). We choose reputable providers and take reasonable steps to make sure they protect your information.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies and your browser’s local storage to keep your cart working, remember your preferences and understand how the site is used. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the site, such as the cart and checkout, may not work properly without them.

Keeping your information safe

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, including using secure, encrypted services for our website and payments.

We keep order and payment records for as long as we need them to look after your order and meet our legal obligations (for example, Australian tax law generally requires business records to be kept for five years). After that, we delete or de-identify them.

Accessing or correcting your information

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we no longer need to keep it. Contact us using the details below, and we’ll respond within 30 days.

Complaints

If you’re concerned about how we’ve handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to fix it. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.oaic.gov.au.
